magichat: If Vinyl's cold, I wanna put a little drinkin' on it. If something's low, I wanna put a little high on it.

Harvest of Hope is a Florida-based non-profit group that provides educational grants, scholarships, emergency financial assistance, and service oriented aid to migrant farmworkers and seasonal farmworkers all accross the United States. These individuals don't have it easy, and Harvest of Hope has made great progress in aid (distributing over $788,000 as of January 2010) and in awareness since their creation 15 years ago.

Swedish band Miike Snow is hitting SXSW next week. If you haven't heard of them (yes, them. Seems those Swedes are tricky when it comes to names), check 'em out now, for their catchy piano and soft sung lyrics will have you tapping something in no time. In Austin in March, the land of the pre- and after-party, they'll fit right in. Filter Magazine's Showdown at Cedar Street promises to be one kick-ass time, especially since the randy Swedes will be rocking next to the likes of Dr. Dog, Minus the Bear and many more. Check out the party at 208 W. 4th St., Wednesday-Friday. Fans encouraged to throw back a Magic Hat while there. We hear it's good in Texas.

Well, we finally settled on the winners of our first-ever Under the Cap contest. After a ton of reading (1,500+ entries) much debate and minor fisticuffs, we've come to a couple of important conclusions. First, it seems as though about 50% of beer drinkers think drinking beer will make someone more attractive. Second, we have the most creative audience of drinkers anywhere.

The trio of 20-year-old Londoners The xx will be taking what Pitchfork writer Andrew Gaerig calls a "predominantly slow, furtive pop music, mostly about sex" to the French Legation Museum in Austin, TX on March 18th for a South by Southwest shindig put on by Other Music and Dig for Fire. The xx have been enjoying their growing legion of fans since the release of their not-so-freshman sounding album "xx" last year. They'll be hitting Austin amid a full spring of sold out shows across the US and Canada, ready to move the masses.

What started as a winter concert in Maine in 2002 has turned into one of the Northeast's best (and only) wintertime music festivals. Snoe.down has changed sites a few times over the years, but it never fails to unite moe.rons from all over the country for an extended weekend of the best improv jams around some of the best talent in the music industry.

We'll be posting some photos of the Mardi Gras prints as soon as we take the photos, most likely first thing tomorrow morning.
